NEET 2024: A Gateway to Diverse Medical Courses

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) serves as the sole entrance examination for undergraduate medical admissions in India. The list of courses offered under NEET 2024 is extensive, providing a promising career path for aspirants. The most coveted courses under the NEET umbrella are the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) .

In addition to these, qualifying NEET opens the door to a multitude of other courses. By clearing the NEET examination, candidates can pursue various courses in the medical field post their class 12. Authorities grant admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BYNS, BUMS, BSMS, BHMS, BVSc & AH, and nursing courses based on NEET scores. Eligible students are shortlisted for seats in their respective medical courses post class 12 based on their NEET results.

To pursue courses under NEET, candidates must have qualified class 12 with a minimum of 50% marks (UR category) and 40% (reserved category) marks. MBBS

Course Fee Range: The MBBS course fee ranges from as low as 1,355 to as high as 25,75,000.

Career Scope: Candidates can pursue a career as a Doctor and Physician.

Higher Studies: Candidates can pursue higher education with a specialisation in medicine. MS, MD, and DNB are the popular postgraduate medical degrees.

BDS

Average Course Fee: The average BDS course fee ranges between Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 12,00,000.

Career Opportunities: Candidates can pursue a career as a Dentist, Dental Technician, Prosthodontist, Dental Hygienist, and Dental Consultant.

Higher Education: Candidates can pursue Master’s in Dental Surgery in a choice of specialisation.

BAMS

Average Fee: The annual fee for the BAMS course on average ranges between Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 3,20,000.

Career Scope: Pharmacist, Dietician, Gynaecologist, Teacher, Panchkarma Practitioner

Higher Education Options: Candidates can pursue an M.S. (Master of Surgery) (Ayurveda) and an M.D. (Doctor of Medicine) (Ayurveda) in specialisation.

BHMS

BHMS Fees: The range of BHMS course fee is between Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 300,000.

Career Scope: Homeopathic Doctor, Public Health Specialist, Pharmacist, Teacher or Lecturer

Higher Studies: Candidates can pursue MD / MS / PG Diploma in Homeopathy.

BNYS

Average Fee: The course fee ranges from Rs 38, 200 to 5, 96,500.

Career Scope: Naturopathy physician, therapist, heath supervisor, consultant, acupuncture, neuro-physiology, speciality clinics

Specialisations Offered: Nutrition Therapy, Natural Childbirth, Herbal/Botanical Medicine, Homeopathic Medicine, and Acupuncture.

BUMS

Fees of BUMS Course: The range of BUMS fee is from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 6,50,000.

Career Options: Scientist, Consultant, Pharmacist, Therapist, Drug Inspector, Medical Assistant, Professor

Higher Studies: Candidates can study MD / MS / PG Diploma courses in Unani medicine.

BVSc & AH

Average Course Fee: The fee for BVSc & AH courses ranges between Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 1,00,000.

Career Opportunities: Veterinary surgeon, Pharmacologist, Food Inspection Specialist, and Veterinarian Assistant.

Higher Education: Students can pursue a Masters in Veterinary Science (M.V.Sc) in a specialisation of their choice. Specialisations include Veterinary Bacteriology, Epidemiology, Veterinary Immunology, and Livestock Economics to name a few.

BPT

Course Fee: The fee ranges between Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 7,10,000.

Scope: Physiotherapist at health clinics, MNCs, industries, and private practice.

Higher Studies Options: After BPT, students can pursue a Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) which is a two-year-long course.

B.Sc Nursing

Course Fee: The fee ranges between Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 3,50,000.

Scope: Staff Nurse, Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Educator, Medical Coder, Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Room, Nurse - Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Higher Studies Options: Candidates who want to go for further studies can join for MSc Nursing, MSc Neuroscience, MSc Medical Microbiology, MSc Biotechnology, and MSc Biochemistry. Moreover, B.Sc Nursing graduates can also join a postgraduate program in Public Health management besides MSc in renal sciences and dialysis technology.
